Spodeli Avtorka

The #SpodeliAvtorka initiative has been filling public libraries for more than three years with what has long been missing — women’s writing and our favorite women authors. “Spodeli Avtorka” is a solidarity-based initiative of the Stella Network, launched with the aim of promoting women’s literary creativity and improving access to feminist literature in public libraries.

On 22 March 2021, we donated books for the first time through “Spodeli Avtorka” to NUUB “St. Kliment Ohridski” – Bitola. Over the years, the initiative has proven to be highly important for sharing women’s creative work and feminist literature, for supporting women authors, and for encouraging many to continue creating and developing women’s writing.

So far, within the framework of the initiative, we have donated over 3,500 books across North Macedonia, with a particular focus on smaller towns and public spaces in Delchevo, Kochani, Kichevo, Struga, Tetovo, Kriva Palanka, and beyond, as well as a donation of around 100 books to the library of the women’s ward at Idrizovo Correctional Facility.

However, “Spodeli Avtorka” is much more than expanding and supporting women’s writing in local libraries. The idea is to build networks of solidarity, introduce young people to local libraries, and, importantly, preserve them as public spaces.

#SpodeliAvtorka continues to donate books, and you can also contribute to the initiative by donating books by women authors. You may also propose a Book of the Month by a woman author, which will be featured on our social media channels.
